QUINTA DO CAVALINHO

Here at Quinta do Cavalinho, we have set up a small equestrian centre, where we have a selection of Lusitano horses for visitors to ride, and also one or two for sale, which we have schooled and produced ourselves.

We are able to take one or two guests for between an hour and two hours riding through the lanes and beautiful forests around us. We also give lessons in our 20 x 60m out door arena, and are happy too give instruction to beginners and children, as well as more advanced riders.

We can offer the following types of riding holidays:

  1. SHORT BREAKS: A four night stay, either during the week or over a weekend, to include riding for 1 or 2 people on three days, with either tuition or hacking, according to your preference.
  2. FULL RIDING HOLIDAY: A seven night stay, to include 6 days of riding for 1 or 2 people, with either tuition or hacking as arranged.
  3. FLEXIBLE: Visitors may wish to come and stay at Quinta do Cavalinho, and perhaps only ride a couple of times during their stay. Days can be arranged prior to your arrival, though we can be flexible at the time as to whether you wish to have tuition, or short or longer hack, entirely according to your wishes.

Please log on to our equestrian site www.centralportugalhorses.com for more details about our equestrian centre and further information on our special riding holidays.

INSURANCE & EQUIPMENT

Riding is a risk sport and we recommend that all visitors wear kite marked safety hard hats when riding. We have a small selection of hats, but it is preferable that you bring your own. Anyone riding without a hat does so entirely at their own risk.

We suggest that you bring jodhpur boots or boots that are suitable for riding, along with chaps and comfortable jeans or breeches. We hope it will be sunny and warm during your stay, but it is advisable to bring a few warmer clothes and a waterproof jacket, in case the weather decides to be unkind.

We are covered for liability insurance, but we must advise riders and people handling the horses, that accidents can happen, even though we try to avoid them at all costs. Please ensure that you are covered with your standard or holiday accident insurance.
